Eagle Cap Wilderness,
and Hells Canyon Recreation Areas
provide spectacular scenery, fishing, and big game
hunting. Llama trekking,
horse packing, and white water raft trips are
readily available and can be easily arranged. The
Mt. Howard Tramway, only 6 miles from the Inn,
wisks visitors up from 4500 feet to 8150 feet for spectacular views of Wallowa Lake and the Eagle Cap
Wilderness.
In winter, backcountry skiing
and snowmobiling are popular activities. Lift-assisted skiing is also
available just a few miles away, at
Ferguson
Ridge Ski Area. Nearby Wallowa Lake provides a sanctuary for wintering
bald eagles and mule deer. Guests enjoy the unique geologic features
surrounding the lake and the ever-changing snow capped vista of the
